Foamposite One patent

Like most inventions, we often see shoes pass through the halls of the U.S. Patent Office. Thanks to the careful sleuthing of Gary Warnett, today we get a look at the Nike Air Foamposite One Patent papers. While it all looks a bit archaic to be honest, the papers show parts of the process and components that go into creating the DMV’s favorite silhouette. Filed way back in 1996, the images show how to make footwear with a pourable foam, complete with “super gases,” and thermoplastic urethanes.

Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Gold Medal’ – Teaser

We all know by now that Nike is releasing a plethora of Olympic-inspired shoes to coincide with the upcoming Summer Olympics in London. Now we’re learning that the popular Nike Air Foamposite One will release in a brand new design. Dubbed the “Gold Medal” version, the shoe sports a metallic gold upper, which seems to sit atop a translucent sole. Could Nike have planted this seed years ago? Think about it. First we saw the Nike Air Foamposite One “Copper”, which would represent the bronze medal, and then we saw the Nike Air Foamposite One “Pewter”, which of course would represent the silver medal, and now this. For now all we have is a teaser picture, but you can be sure that new images will surface soon.

It seems as if Spike Lee debuts new sneakers at the most inopportune times. If you recall, we spotted him in the “Knicks” Jordan Spizikes, both blue and orange, around this time last year as the Knicks were on the verge of getting swept by the Celtics in the first round of the 2011 NBA Playoffs. Moments ago, Spike Lee revealed images of a never-before-seen, Knicks-colored Nike Air Foamposite One via Twitter. It possesses an orange Foamposite shell with a royal blue midfoot and an icy bottom. Also, the left heel features the Mars Blackmon graphic, while the 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks logo is spotted on the right heel. Will we see Spike Lee sitting courtside at the Garden in Thursday’s game 3 matchup in these “Knicks” Foams?
