When Jordan came back in the 4-5 he proved he wasn’t playing games with us. Some wondered during his retirement what would happen to the Air Jordan line. Ten installments seemed like a great way to go out, and the tribute on the outsole would’ve been a great way to close out a solid run. Would’ve been.
As the story goes MJ shocked the world with a return to basketball. As the story sometimes skips over is that Nike shocked the world with the Air Jordan 11. Debuting on Michael’s feet in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semis, cameras flashed and heads turned at the sight of this never-before-seen sneaker. The Magic would take the series, but the “Concords” would take the history, hoisting MJ and the Bulls to a record 72-10 season the next year. Ever since, the comeback that sparked another comeback has had every sneakerhead coming back for the same shoe with each unexpected return.
